Public Art Murals celebrating “Healthcare Heroes”

The Kent Cultural Alliance announces a partnership with University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council, Talbot Arts, and the Dorchester Center for the Arts. The partnership will culminate with the installation of four new Public Art Murals celebrating “Healthcare Heroes” to be installed at Shore Medical facilities in the corresponding counties.

In mid 2022 the four arts councils collaborated on a public call for artists to create these murals and each county selected their artist. The artists are: for Dorchester County, Miriam Moran; for Talbot County, Kevin Garber; for Queen Anne’s County, Claire Parker; and for Kent County, Paul Santori.

With thanks to the great folks at The Finishing Touch in Chestertown, four specifically designed, matching canvases were created and have been delivered to the artists and work on the murals has begun.

On behalf of the four county arts councils, we thank the Maryland State Arts Council for their support of our work, and The Hedgelawn Foundation for their generous support of this initiative.

UM SRH and the Arts Councils for Dorchester, Talbot, Queen Anne, and Kent Counties look forward to sharing the finished works with our communities in the spring of 2023!
